As we are moving through October, we want to remind Hutton families of a few key issues that are arising to ensure the safety of all students at Hutton.
- First, because there is limited supervision after school for students, child(ren) who don’t take the bus need to go straight home once they are dismissed from class.
- We are noticing that some parents are starting to pick up and drop off their children in non-designated spots. Even though that may be easier for the person who is picking up, it creates a possible hazard for some of our students that walk home and students who are getting picked up. To remind you, the only area for drop off and pick up is in the (new)parking lot to the east of the building. (by the fruit orchard)
- Also, we ask that if you are picking up or dropping off your child(ren), that you refrain from bringing your pet(s0 onto school property because even though they are leashed, some students as well as adults have a phobia to certain pets and we want everyone to feel safe at school and on school grounds.
Now, with Hallowe’en later this week, here are some guidelines to consider when sending your child to school in costume, if you choose to do so.
- Please! no blood, guts or gore with the costume choice
- NO weapons of ANY KIND
- Any costume should be school appropriate and comfortable as classes are still in session.
- Full face masks/head coverings can be worn for the parade time but otherwise are not to be worn during the day.
There will be a costume parade by the primaries in the morning for all the staff and students to enjoy.
For the week after Hallowe’en, please limit, if any, your child’s treats to just one piece a day at school. All staff appreciate this!
If you have questions regarding anything mentioned in this email, please feel free to call the office at 250-442-8275.
Thank you,
Peter Scott,
Hutton Principal
