Hooray for The Summer Reading Club!
BC Summer Reading Club 2020: Explore Our Universe
The Grand Forks and District Public Library invites kids between the ages of 5-12 to join the 2020 BC Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Explore Our Universe. Registration is free and the program starts at the library on June 29th and finishes on August 14th.
Things are going to look a little different this year, as we go virtual, but we guarantee it will still be fun!
Register with the library and kids will receive a reading record to help keep track of their summer reading fun and when they complete the program, they will be awarded a medal at the end of the summer!
You can register your children in either of two groups; ages 5-8 or 9-12 using the Eventbrite link found here:
5-8 year olds https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/109422397336
9-12 year olds https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/109423285994
Once registered you can drop by the library each week to pick up a Grab ‘n Go Activity Bag filled with all the resources you need to have fun with weekly themed activities. Don’t worry if your summer plan won’t allow you to make it each week, we still welcome your registrations.
After registering with our library, you will be prompted to register for the province –wide BCSRC program where you will have access to virtual craft demos and activity downloads plus an invitation to ask questions and watch a fun and informative webinar with astronomers from the HR MacMillan Space Centre.
The BC Summer Reading Club motivates kids to read (or be read to) regularly, which helps to maintain or improve their reading skills while school is out. It makes reading fun by inviting kids to read what they want and when they want. The expert staff at The Grand Forks and District Public Library can help kids find just what they like, whether it’s a print book, audiobook, e-book, or magazine.
The BC Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with financial support from Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education, and CUPE BC.
